Observation, from screen to street
Good observation begins with thorough preparation. If you know in advance where to look, who or what you are observing and which risks are at play, you can act far more purposefully and safely in the field. In this fully revised e-learning you work through the observation process step by step: from digital preparation to observation in the field.
In about 16 hours you follow ten practice-oriented lessons developed by experienced observation specialists from private and public investigation. You learn through interactive visualizations, videos, quizzes, examples of radio communication and practical assignments that you complete entirely online and at your own pace.
What you learn
From preparation to recording
The e-learning combines digital pre-research with fieldwork:
Digital groundwork
Using open sources you build a focused picture of a person, location or situation, while learning to limit your digital visibility and investigative risks as far as possible. You enter the field with a complete reconnaissance in hand.
Static and dynamic observation
You learn to choose and take up an observation post, to follow a person on foot or by vehicle and to apply the ABC procedure. The e-learning also covers observation in rural areas, equipment, a suitable cover story and radio procedures.
Log and reporting
You learn to record your observations correctly in a log and an observation report. For this you receive ready-to-use templates for a log, an observation report and a reconnaissance report.

Who is this e-learning developed for?
This e-learning is primarily designed for private investigators, special investigation officers and social investigators, offering in-depth knowledge and practical skills in dynamic and static observation techniques.
The e-learning is also open to anyone who wants to learn to observe effectively and purposefully. No specific prior education is required and you work entirely at your own pace.

A recognized certificate of attendance
Our training institute has been assessed and registered with the CRKBO, the Central Register for Short Vocational Education. On completion of this e-learning you receive the IACA certificate of attendance:

This module forms part of the accredited registered program Private Investigator Practical Diploma®, which has been assessed and accredited.
On enrollment you also receive the official Observation Technique handbook (2nd edition, ISBN 9789464375060) by post, developed and published by IACA.
