Frequently asked questions about investigation and forensic research

That depends on the program. Private Investigator prepares you for the SVPB diploma Private Investigator and the Special Investigating Officer program for the Basic Competence BOA certificate; both examinations are national. Interrogation, Interview Techniques and Body Language, Registered Body Language Analyst and the Practical Diploma Private Investigator lead to a SPEN register diploma. Surveillance Techniques, Applied Criminal Intelligence Analysis and Interview Specialist Integrity conclude with an IACA certificate.
Almost all programs require no specific prior education. For Private Investigator we assume a working and thinking level equivalent to Dutch MBO level 3, and the Special Investigating Officer program requires a good command of Dutch. Interview Specialist Integrity is an advanced program: completing Interrogation, Interview Techniques and Body Language first is recommended.
That varies considerably. Surveillance Techniques is an e-learning of approximately 16 hours which you schedule yourself. Interrogation, Interview Techniques and Body Language consists of two classroom days with about eight hours of e-learning around them, and Registered Body Language Analyst of two classroom days with an assessment phase and a personal evaluation. Interview Specialist Integrity and Applied Criminal Intelligence Analysis take two class days, Private Investigator four and the Special Investigating Officer program eight. The Practical Diploma Private Investigator consists of four modules.
The programs are taught in the classroom at the IACA location in Gilze-Rijen, the Netherlands. Private Investigator, Private Investigator (Belgium) and the Special Investigating Officer program can also be followed live online. Surveillance Techniques is followed entirely online as an e-learning, whenever it suits you. The national examinations of SVPB and ExTH are administered by those examination institutes themselves.
For investigators, detectives and private investigators at investigation agencies, banks, insurers, housing corporations and government bodies, for (prospective) special investigating officers, enforcement officers and supervisors, and for HR and integrity professionals who conduct interviews as part of their work.
