IACA Department of missing persons and cold case research

Digital support with cold cases and missing

The Department of Missing Persons and Cold Case Research (VVCO) is an initiative of the International Anti Crime Academy (IACA). The department consists of experienced OSINT specialists and carefully selected students, who are committed to supporting cold case research and research into missing persons on a voluntary basis.

The VVCO does not process complete files, but provides supporting commitment in the form of targeted OSINT studies. This deployment is additional to existing investigative efforts and can relate to both cold cases and urgent missings. Support only takes place at the request of or in collaboration with police units, criminal investigations or recognized research parties.

What does the VVCO stand for?

The VVCO focuses on collecting and analyzing open sources ( Open Source Intelligence, OSINT ) for both urgent missings and files that have been stuck or in which no more active investigation takes place for a long time. Think of recent missing issues, long -term missing, unsolved crimes or cold cases in which new digital insights can make a difference.

The department makes a supporting contribution to existing studies. Through OSINT techniques, new connections or sources of information can be exposed, which may give rise to renewed attention or new research questions.

In addition, the VVCO is involved in various projects in the field of cold case research, and also contributes to innovation within this domain. For example, it is actively experimenting with the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence (AI), data analysis and digital monitoring to increase the effectiveness of OSINT applications. With this, the VVCO contributes to the renewal of research methods at the intersection of technology and investigation.

    Method

The VVCO works with a fixed core of OSINT professionals, who are also affiliated with the national expertise broker (LDM) of the police. They are supplemented with a small group of students who further develop their knowledge and skills within a guided process. Students are not used randomly; Only those who are demonstrably motivated and have sufficient expertise can contribute to selected cases under supervision.

The department is involved in various projects, including police investigations and collaborations with citizen -oriented initiatives, provided they are supervised by competent authorities. All deployment takes place on a voluntary basis, without commercial interest. Discretion, reliability and social involvement are the core of our approach.

Please note: it is not possible to submit a request for support as a private person or surviving relative.

    Connected to Education

As a partner, the IACA is involved in the Minor Cold Case of Saxion University of Applied Sciences . From the VVCO we guide students in the application of OSINT to Cold Case research. The combination of education and practice reinforces the effectiveness of the department and contributes to the development of new generations of researchers.
